Where should coat hooks be positioned?

The placement of coat hooks can depend on the room’s functionality and the desired design. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Near the entrance door: The coat rack is often placed directly next to or opposite the front door. This provides direct and convenient access to hang up your coat, hat, or keys when you come home.
  • On the wall: Coat hooks can be mounted on any wall in the home, provided there is enough free space. However, they should not be placed where they could obstruct passage or access to other areas or furniture.
  • At a suitable height: Coat hooks should be installed at a height that is reachable for all household members. For an adult, this is usually around 1.70 m. If children live in the home, some hooks should be positioned slightly lower.
  • With enough spacing: To prevent coats and jackets from overlapping, there should be a distance of about 20–30 cm between individual coat hooks.

Please note that these guidelines are based on general recommendations. Depending on your interior style and the requirements of your space, you can make individual adjustments.
