What types of push locks are there, and which is best suited for my project?
Push locks, typically used in jewelry boxes, drawers, and smaller filing cabinets, are available in a variety of designs.
First, there are turn-and-push locks, which are generally used to lock several drawers at the same time. When turned, a central rod activates a series of bolts that engage in each drawer. A key is required to lock and unlock them.
Second, there are push-rod button locks, in which the key is pushed inward and then activates the locking mechanism. They are ideal for applications where quick opening and closing are required.
Third, there are magnetic push locks, a modern method in which the locking mechanism is activated by bringing a magnet close. These locks are completely invisible when the door or drawer is closed.
Which push lock is best suited for your project depends on a number of factors, including the type of item to be secured, how often it needs to be opened and closed, and whether it needs to be quick and easy to open.
