What are drop-down seals and what are they used for?
Soft-close dampers, also known as soft-close seals, are a special type of seal widely used in sanitary facilities and in the home improvement sector. Their main purpose is to automatically and gently lower or close doors or lids instead of letting them bounce off a hard surface.
The use of soft-close dampers includes various application areas:
- Toilet seats: They are often found on toilet seats. The soft-close damper prevents the lid from slamming onto the toilet with a loud bang by lowering it gently and slowly.
- Furniture doors: In some high-quality pieces of furniture, soft-close dampers are used to prevent doors and drawers from being closed forcefully.
- Household appliances: Some appliances such as ovens or microwaves can also have soft-close dampers that allow gentle closing.
The use of soft-close dampers not only contributes to the longevity of the items by preventing damage caused by hard impact, but also helps create a pleasant and quiet living environment.
