Is it safe to connect multiple power strips together?

Although it is technically possible to connect multiple power strips together, it is not recommended for safety reasons. There are several reasons why this practice can be potentially dangerous:

  • Overloading: If too many devices are connected to the daisy-chained power strips, they can exceed the power capacity of the original outlet. This can lead to overheating and, as a result, cause a fire.
  • Insufficient protection: Not all power strips are equipped with overload protection. In such a case, overloading can lead to a short circuit or electric shock.
  • Non-compliance: Daisy-chaining power strips often does not comply with local electrical safety regulations or standards.

It is therefore safer to hire a qualified electrician to install additional outlets if you need more sockets. If you are permanently using too many power strips or permanently fully loaded power strips, additional permanent solutions are likely required.
