How do you properly install a drop-down door seal?

A drop-down door seal is an essential part of every door, as it helps keep noise, dust, drafts, and cold out. It is quite easy to install a drop-down door seal once you know how it works.

First, the door should be removed from its hinges and placed on two sawhorses. Then measure the bottom edge of the door and transfer the measurement to the seal. Use a saw to cut the drop-down door seal to the correct size. Now mark the position where the seal should be installed. It is important to note that the flat side of the seal faces the door opening.

  • Start by leaving about one centimeter clear from the closed door edge on each side.
  • Mark a screw hole at least every 30 cm and pre-drill it with a 2 mm wood drill bit.
  • The drop-down door seal can now be secured with the included screws.
  • After installing the seal, drill a hole in the door leaf for the mounting pin, and then attach the mounting pin.
  • Rehang the door. Once it is firmly in place, check whether the seal drops down correctly and no unwanted gaps remain.

If all steps have been carried out carefully, there should now be a properly installed drop-down door seal in place.
