How do I install a long backplate door handle set?
The installation of a backplate handle set can be completed in just a few steps. However, you should always work carefully to avoid damage.
- Step 1: First, remove the old lever handle or knob set. If necessary, the screws must first be loosened or removed. Then lift off the backplates on both sides.
- Step 2: Next, insert the spindle of the new backplate handle set through the prepared opening in the door. The backplate on the opposite side is then placed onto the spindle and aligned.
- Step 3: After that, you can fit and align the protective escutcheon. Make sure that the backplate sits flush with the door.
- Step 4: Now attach the handle sets (door handles) on both sides to the respective spindle ends. In many cases, it is necessary to secure the handles with grub screws.
- Step 5: Finally, fit the backplates on both sides and screw them firmly to the door. As a last step, check the function once more through the door.
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions included, as installation methods may vary depending on the model and brand.
