Can concealed hinges be used on any type of door?

Concealed hinges, also known as invisible or European hinges, add a high level of aesthetics and refinement to your cabinets and doors. However, they are not suitable for every type of door.

First, the material composition of the door must be considered. Concealed hinges are usually suitable for interior doors made of solid wood. Doors made of hollow and ultra-light materials may not be suitable, as concealed hinges require drilling for installation and the door material must be strong enough to support the hinge.

Second, the thickness of the door is also important. Concealed hinges generally fit doors with a minimum thickness of 16mm. For thinner doors, it may not be possible to drill a hole for the concealed hinges without damaging the material.

Lightweight and frequently opened doors benefit from the feature of concealed hinges that allows the doors to open fully, making it easier to move items in and out.

Conclusion: While concealed hinges offer many advantages, they are not suitable for all types of doors. Consider the material and thickness of the door when choosing the right hinge for your project.
