Are furniture gliders suitable for all floor types?

Furniture glides can generally be used on all floor types, but there are some important aspects to consider.

First, the material of the glide. Felt glides are ideal for hard floor surfaces such as laminate, tile, marble, cement, or wood. They reduce friction and prevent scratches and wear. On softer floor coverings such as carpet, plastic or metal glides are recommended. They make moving furniture much easier.

Second, the size and weight of the furniture. Larger and heavier furniture requires stronger and larger glides to distribute the pressure evenly across the surface and thus minimize floor damage.

• Very lightweight furniture: small felt glides (20-25 mm diameter)
• Medium-sized furniture: medium felt glides (30-40 mm diameter)
• Heavy furniture: large felt and metal glides (50-60 mm diameter)

Third, always remember to check and replace furniture glides regularly. Worn or dirty glides can scratch or soil the floor.
